Three things in life are certain. Death, taxes, and electrical appliance manufacturers upgrading their products. Juicers are no different. I love my Omega NC800, but is the latest model any better? Who wins in the battle of Omega NC800 vs. NC900?
In all honesty, we win. Both of these juicers are excellent and come highly recommended. I can honestly say that I think you’d be delighted with either model. This is because they are virtually identical. I will explain more throughout this guide.
Omega NC800 vs NC900 –What’s the Difference?
I’m going, to be honest here. There is virtually no difference between the NC800 and the NC900. The only change between the models is in color.
- Both models are 6th generation Omega appliances. Don’t be misled by websites claiming that the NC800 is the 5th generation. Anything with the NC prefix is 6th generation.
- Both models are horizontal, masticating juicers.
- Both models are the same size and weight.
- Both juicers are single-gear units, working at 80 rotations per minute.
- Both models have a fifteen-year manufacturer’s warranty.
There is one difference, and one alone. The color. Three juicers fall under these model numbers.
- NC800 HDS – Silver finish.
- NC800 HDR – Red finish.
- NC900 HDC – Chrome finish.
This is why it’s so important to know that the juicers are of the same generation. Some consumers are tricked into paying more, believing that the NC900 is a newer, upgraded model. This is not the case.
That’s not to belittle the importance of color. White juicers stain easier. This may be reason enough for some people to prefer the HDR or HDC.
A chrome aesthetic may also match other appliances in a kitchen. You may consider this to be worth the extra money. Just ensure your decision is based on facts.
How Do These Models Perform?
Naturally, looks come second to performance when reviewing a juicer. If you’re going to invest in an appliance, you want to know that it will meet your needs.
In my eyes, there are five key areas in which we can judge a juicer’s performance.
- Preparation Time. How long does it take the assemble the juicer? Does it have a wide chute, or will you need to chop ingredients in advance?
- Noise and Voltage. Most of us use our juicers first thing in the morning. Nobody wants an appliance that sounds like a jumbo jet taking off. Your juicer should work quietly and efficiently.
- Yield. Perhaps the most important thing of all is a juicer’s nutritional yield. Cold press juicers should deliver highly nutritious, delicious juice. This is what sets them apart from the cheaper centrifugal juicers on the market.
- Versatility. A good juicer should serve multiple purposes. Can you use a juicer to create more than just fruit or vegetable juice? And can the appliance cope with a wide range of ingredients?
- Ease of Cleaning. Once you’re done with the juicing, you’ll need to clean up after yourself. Nobody wants to spend hours doing this. Is the juicer fast, easy and unfussy to clean?
Without further ado, let’s put the Omega NC800 and NC900 through their strides. I will address each of these concerns in turn below.
Before we start, however, let’s clarify again. The performance of these juicers is identical. Everything that I discuss below applies to all three models.
Preparation Time
One of the biggest selling points of these juicers is the feeding tube. This is larger than most competitors. Very little chopping time is required with fruit.
Tougher root vegetables will need to be cut into smaller pieces. This is no fault of the appliances, though. It’s par for the course
with horizontal juicers.
The good news is that you’ll make up this time in assembling the juicer. While there are nine parts of these juicers, they are very simple to assemble. Once you know what you’re doing, you should be able to put your appliance together in thirty seconds.
Noise and Voltage
These juicers have a quiet but powerful motor. The strength is the equivalent of two horsepower. That’s plenty for a juicer. You wouldn’t know while using the appliances, though. They’re virtually silent to run.
These juicers both operate at a volume of around 68 decibels. For comparison, a standard conversation between two adults is around 60 decibels. You won’t need even need to raise your voice to be heard while using these juicers.
You’ll need 150 watts to run these appliances. That is standard for juicers in the United States, so you’re hugely unlikely to experience problems with this. These models will work with any standard wall plug.
Juice Yield
The biggest selling point of these juicers is the high yield. The reason I love my Omega Juicer is that it produces delicious, nutritious juice without fuss.
These juicers work slightly better with softer ingredients than hard, but the results are very similar. They come into their own when juicing leafy greens, though.
The yield on these ingredients needs to be seen – and tasted – to be believed. The finished juice is packed with vitamins. If you’re juicing for health reasons, this is a compelling enough argument to check out these
juicers.
These appliances also do an admirable job with wheatgrass, which most masticated juicers struggle with. Overall, the impressive yield – and pulp control – is the key selling point of these juicers.
Versatility
These Omega models are more than just juicers. They offer great versatility. Some of the extra foods and condiments that you can make include:
- Pasta
- Coffee Granules
- Baby Food
- Sorbets and Ice Cream
- Nut Butter
- Celery Juicer
- Almond or Soya Milk
- Ground and Minced Spices and Herbs
This could save you a great deal of space in your kitchen. By making use of these juicer models, you may not need any additional gadgets.
Ease of Cleaning
As we have established, these juicers can be taken apart in thirty seconds flat. That’s hugely appealing when it comes to cleaning. Overall, expect to spend around four to five minutes cleaning your juicer.
Each component will need to be washed separately. The parts are not dishwasher safe, so unfortunately there is no shortcut available there. You’ll need to apply warm, soapy water. No soaking will be required though, so that will save time and effort.
These juicers also come packaged with a specialist cleaning brush, so you’ll be able to tackle those hard-to-reach spots and corners.
Everything about the cleaning process of these juicers is straightforward. Just make sure you wipe down any spilled juice to prevent staining.

I hope this helps you decide if the NC800 or NC900 is right for you. Whichever model you choose, you’ll get an identical performance. It’s just the aesthetic that differs. I maintain my view that these are two of the best juicers on the market.
